Calcium

Indication

Rickets, osteomalacia and calcium deficiency. Supportive in hypocalcaemia.

Contraindications

Hypercalcaemia. Care in cardiac disease and in animals receiving digitalis glycosides.

Side Effects

Rapid intravenous calcium can cause fatal cardiac arrhythmia — give slowly and monitor heart rate.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Safe; requirement rises in late pregnancy and lactation.
