Ethopabate

Indication

Prevention and control of coccidiosis in poultry caused by Eimeria species. Often used in combination with other anticoccidials (commonly amprolium) to broaden activity against different Eimeria strains.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to ethopabate or any component of the formulation. Should not be used in animals intended for immediate slaughter if withdrawal period cannot be respected. Avoid overdosage, especially in young or stressed birds.

Side Effects

Ethopabate is generally well tolerated at recommended doses, but possible adverse effects include: Reduced feed intake Mild growth depression in poultry (rare) Gastrointestinal disturbances with overdose Toxicity signs if given in excessive doses or for prolonged periods

Pregnancy & Lactation

(Mostly relevant for mammals, since ethopabate is mainly used in poultry) Pregnancy: Use only if the benefit outweighs potential risks. Data on safety in pregnant animals are limited. Lactation: Safety in lactating animals has not been well established. Use with caution.
